Hi, I’m Sydney!
My love for cooking started before I could even reach the kitchen counter. My grandma taught me how to make our family favorites – homemade pies and cinnamon rolls, and German-Austrian dishes like strudel and spaetzle. I was notorious for asking my mom to mix a bowl of ingredients or help in the kitchen at any given opportunity. From there, I started taking cooking classes over summers, and even started my own catering company in high school.
My college experience included being a part-time culinary instructor at Williams Sonoma. I remember the first class I ever taught was how to cook a Thanksgiving turkey – in a mini convection oven! Did I mention I had never cooked a Thanksgiving turkey before? That was usually how my classes went, I’d do some serious research on the recipes beforehand, watch YouTube tutorials, and eventually build up enough talking points to teach a class.
In my last quarter of college at Cal Poly, I decided to write a cookbook as my senior project. As a Graphic Communication major and passionate foodie, I had all of the skills needed to write, photograph, design, and print my own cookbook, filled with healthy recipes full of fresh produce.
After college, I was lucky enough to find a job that I loved – one that I am able to combine all of my skills for marketing, design, and food! While I don’t cook for my job, I still cook all the time. One of the most rewarding feelings is feeding the ones I love. My hope is that I can share easy, healthy, delicious recipes that will give you the same feeling!
